June is Red, White and Blue in Ocean Shores WA

Summer is fast approaching. With the end of the school year nearing came the ultimate teaser weekend. Memorial Day, a spoiler for summer days to come. Long weekends, camping, sprinklers in the yard, s’mores and sleeping in! A full calendar of activities at the beach. There are sandcastle events, art shows, beach volleyball, a music, the upcoming Seahawks and Bikers weekends and just good old playing on the beach. And that’s just in Ocean Shores!
June 9th Ocean Shores turns red, white, and blue for one of the largest Flag Day Parades in Washington. The parade features more than 75 entries and a Grand Marshall. Sponsored by the Ocean Shores Elks Lodge. Grab your spot downtown, the parade begins at 11 am and lasts about an hour.

With the celebration of our countries flag many of the local businesses also honor our Military this weekend as well as year-round. The Shilo Inn offers 20% discount to those that present military ID at booking. The Doormouse Boutique has 20% off year-round for our military. The Ocean Shores Boat House is owned by a former Navy Officer and his wife. They offer 25% for the rentals. What a fun way to explore the waterways in Ocean Shores by renting a Duffy electric boat. Oyhut Bay Seaside Village on the South end of Ocean Shores celebrates the Military with a 20% booking discount and a patriotic celebration after the Flag Day Parade with live music in the amphitheater.
June 17th is Father’s Day- Here are some great ways to celebrate the Dad in your life while visiting Ocean Shores How about an afternoon at the movies? Ocean Shores Cinemas features a multi-screen theater that shows new releases. Great way to wrap up the day or spend the afternoon inside if the weather turns rainy. “The Incredibles “will be playing Father’s Day Weekend. Is Dad a golf Lover? Hit a bucket of balls with him at the driving range at the Ocean Shores Golf Course. Even the littles can take a swing and try their luck. Is your Dad hooked on fishing? Deep-sea, surf, and freshwater fishing are all close at hand. For freshwater fishing, try Duck Lake or any of the inland canals’ 23 miles of fresh water navigable, interconnected waterways. Surf fishing is best near the North Jetty or at Damon Point State Park (near the marina). Waters of the State Park are also the best places to go crabbing. June 22nd -23rd – The Ocean Shores Chamber presents the Five Stare Dealers-Sand and Sawdust Festival. Described as: More than 25 amazing chainsaw carvers including International, Pro and Sem-Pro artists from North and South America showcase their work, each artist creating chainsaw carvings during the Festival, with live auctions every day. Watch the artists at work, then purchase your favorite creations at the auction. This is one of the largest chainsaw shows and auctions in the Northwest.

Ocean Shores 4th of July. Small town summer, in a big way. It’s time for the busiest weekend of the summer for Ocean Shores. The flags are still proudly waving around town from the Flag Day Parade. Storefronts are cleaned and brightened up. Displays are changed to a patriotic theme and the town is ready for visitors. This year the 4th falls on a Wednesday, which gives us a weekend on either side of the holiday to celebrate an entire week of red white blue and you.
Whichever week you choose to visit there is so much experience you will see why Ocean Shores is so much more than a beach!
